Not sure if this has ever been suggested before, but how about a section on decent roads that people know about for others to try.
Ideally it just needs to be a description such as

"Road X, between point A and B"

Hopefully this would allow others to then try them out. Doubt it would mean that your favourite road then becomes cluttered with others Elises as I doubt everyone will end up on the same road at the same time. It should mean that you at least see other Lotus drivers occasionly.

Just head up to Mid / North Wales or Scotland for a few days. More great 'Elise' roads than you can shake a stick at.

I remember seeing Mr Clarkson going on about the 'Butter Tubs Pass' in Yorkshire somewhere. Looked pretty good on the program anyway. Had a few cattle grids though!

The Macclesfield to Buxton road near me, the best. Very testing even below 50mph, which the plod like to keep a close eye on...

Any of the RN roads in France, especially the rural ones.
Excellent road surface and virtually no traffic means Elise heaven

Northumberland/Scotland area

A696/A68 from Ponteland (Just North of Newcastle) to Carfraemill, Passes through Jedburgh. Some awesome fast uphill corners that get progressivly tighter, great fun. Best bit has to be just over the scottish boarder at Carter Bar, you drop down a steep hill with 3 or possibly 4 180 degree hairpins, wicked. Watch for the Gatso at the bottom though.

A697 from Morpeth (just off the A1 North of Newcastle) to Carfraemill, again full of fun "A" road. some long fast sections and some tight twisty bits.

Cameras: if you don't have a GPS based system get one before you drive these roads, Northumberland ain't too bad but once over into Scotland, Lothian & Boarders police have littered the place with gatso's and scamera vans.

Just off to Edinburgh now, so choices. A696/A68 for fun, ummm no its wet and the Focus company motor is lacking tread on the fronts. A697, usual route for me but getting tired of it now. A1 - yep fast blast from Berwick to Edinburgh on argubly the best A road surface in the country, No police usually and 120 all the way (that's KPH BTW)

Only in the Summer, point is Davey, you don't need to be going over say 60mph to really enjoy it, there are lots of really tight hairpins, and corners that tighten up on you, it's the acceleration, braking and cornering that it's all about...

Sounds like a few of the roads in Mid Wales. There is one section like a mini Stelvio Pass. You can look up the road to see if there is anything coming and then just slide the tail out around the hairpins.

I really hope we have a good summer this year.

Apparently the A272 is superb - check it out on a map and you'll see why. Not been yet but am planning on doing so soon when I have a Sunday to waste - in fact depending on Saturday night's activities and the weather forecast for Sunday, this Sunday could be the day I do.

Some great roads around these parts too (Kent & East Sussex), all of which can be enjoyed within the speedlimits in a 'liz.

3 favourites from me:
A264 from Tunbridge Wells to East Grinstead
B2110 from Groombridge to Forest Row, via Hartfield
A227 from Borough Green to Tonbridge

Keep it safe for yourself and others and have fun!

A road well worth a drive is the A86 in Scotland between the A9 and Fort William. It starts off with tight corners finishing with some fast sweepers. Not like you have time to enjoy it but it also takes you past a lock and Ben Nevis!

4 years of S2 motoring in Scotland, and there's one route I keep going back to:

- From Dunfermline, take the A823, north.
- Go past Knock Hill (or stop off for a few laps...)
- Turn right onto the A822 - follow to Crieff.
- At Crieff, turn left onto the A85, and follow along the banks of Loch Earn.
- Turn right onto the A84 at Lochearnhead.
- Turn right onto the A827 at Mid Lix, and follow along the north side of Loch Tay
- Turn right onto the A826 at Aberfeldy
- Turn right onto the A822 at Milton.
- Follow A822 into Crieff, and repeat the circuit until excess grinning causes your face to hurt intolerably.

Simply stunning views and loads of places to stop and take them in.

Two of my favourite's

Think It's the A427 Southam road between Coventry and Banbury, excellent especially very early Sunday moring!

Don't know the no. of this one but the road from Horncastle to Reavesby is awesome, sweeping bends into corkscrew hairpins.....think it's about 5 miles long, be careful on the last left hander, it encourages you to go in with speed then tighten's on you without warning. used to use that road for work and that corner always caught me out, great fun!!

Bloody hell - that looks amazing. Trip to Scotland this summer looking possible. Only wish I could train the car up there and not have to do a 9hr motorway slog!

Feckin 'ell another creamer! Am planning on a trip to Devon later in the year and will be doing that route for sure. In fact I think I'll start in Exeter, go from there to Barnstaple, turn left onto the A39 until Northam. Take another left onto the A386 and head south again to wherever my destination it. Both A 377 and A386 look sublime driving roads!!

All that and I've only been looking at Multimap. What a !

Asked a similar question a while back when I had the T350 as we were off down to Cornwall/Devon for a week of driving and adventuring.

Somone came up with a pearl. Its the B3227 from Taunton to Great Torrington. Truly awesome road.

See here, bottom of first page, for my reaction!

Have a look on www.pointandsquirt.com for loads of top roads with maps.

The owner has an Elise so they are well suited.
