After looking at the Elise Sport 220 / Cup 220 for many months (even before I bought my current car), I am now really hankering after one of these.

I'm debating my options, and would welcome some feedback.

I see Lotus are still doing the 50/50 deal on the Sport 220. The retail on base is £37,450, but do any dealers offer a discount? If so, what would be achievable? This may be my preference as I'd imagine my current car would cover the first payment!

The other option would be to buy second-hand. If I do go that avenue, what things should I be looking for? I'd buy from a Lotus dealer (my most locals are B&C or Silverstone), but more thinking about options to consider (e.g. forged wheels).

I'd welcome any feedback.

Hi, I was in the same position as you late last year. How long are you going to keep the car?

I decided I would keep it for two years before upgrading to the exige, and therefore B&C (who are fab btw) convinced me that a nearly new wouldbe the way forward, as I'd take less of a hit on depreciation. Anyway, I'm in the supercharged Elise Cup Racer and it's fantastic, however I'm a big supporter of Lotus and would like my next car to be a new one from them.

Either way you will have a great car, and B&C is the dealer you should go through IMHO. Good luck and enjoy a fantastic car, they are brutal with the s;charged engine

Lotus are potentially being bought so discounts are at a minimum at the moment - it also has not slowed sales so its unlikely to get lifted.

Best thing to do is wait for a dealer to take stock of one you like and then negotiate as this will give better discounts. They get a different rate to buy than when a customer specs a car.

For example my spec 350 was offered at £62k but a better specced dealer car was offered to me at £57k - both 50/50 deals.

You also have to factor in the increased first year tax that is now £1500 or £1800.

In terms of dealers - Jamie at B&C and Pat at Hoffmans are both excellent.

Good luck with your search!
