Elise S1 Alarm/Immobiliser Removal

Hello All,
I'm new on here, a proud owner of a 1998 Elise S. Proud and happy until the last few weeks that is................
The car after a few months in the garage it will start, but cuts out after a second or two.
I have been through all the checks and each time I come back to the immobiliser. I have read many threads from other owners having the same sort of problems but cannot find any clear instructions as to how to remove this satanic unit.
It is a rover engined car with the Lucas 5AS unit not the Cobra.
Please, please does any one know ?
I really would like to drive this car again !
