I've started getting the engine light on if I drive the car hard (ie. onto the second cam) which when I check the diagnostic codes gives P1301, P1302 and P0303. If I clear them and drive the car normally then all is fine until I decide to wind it up again.

I've seen on a few forums about cam issues, and the P0303 codes says its cylinder 3 misfire. However I dont seem to be getting any misfires. I do get the occasional hi-revving when the car should be ticking over (about 1300rpm).

Any ideas what it could be and what to check before I start taking the head off to check for cam damage? Also, if it os the cams. Any ideas how much it's going to cost to have them replaced?

Thanks for the replies guys. I've had a pro check the car out. Nothing broken around the cams or any wear. Looked like some water had got into the plug on cylinder 3. swapped it over to another cylinder after a clean up and now running fine.

well except for a lambda sensor throwing up the odd error message. But that's less of a worry to replace.
