Hello to everybody.

I'm gonna get me an Elise very soon and need the forum's help to decide a) which S2 is best for me and b) can someone recommend a great dealer and/or service centre.

My Elise has got to be:
1. standard / pos hard top?
2. good nick
3. low milage (under 15k).

I know that's the spec everybody wants but I'm not interested in a car for track days - just a go-kart for the tedious 20 mile commute to work everyday. I've got a budget of around 17K.

I've heard lots of bad stuff about dealerships and it gets me worried...

I'm based in Norfolk. Any help or shared experiences is greatly appreciated!

Cheers people! Great help.

Strattons seem pricey for regular cars - but I'm sure they have the servicing expertise being so close to the Lotus home - the cost of servicing also seems pretty good.

Anyone know about Wilsons in Essex? They have a couple of reasonable cars up for sale...

Also is there anything I should really look for when test driving? The Rover engines a good-un, but how about the stuff you don't think of until you really get to know the car?

Got mine through a Broker (Micornet Showroom), but they sourced it from Strattons.
Both were pretty good and it turned up 2 weeks early. Only issue I did have was that the 1500mile service was carried out by Westovers, and they had problems getting Strattons to authorise the Labour being charged back to them. It delayed me picking up the car by 2hrs

I got mine from stratton's, but I sourced it from Autobytel.co.uk saved about £3000

I wouldn't be too strict on mileage. I sold my S2 111S with 32K up for a smidgen over your £17K budget. Even allowing for the mileage you'd put on it, its not hgoing to lose that much.

never bought a car from there but i find wilsons fine they even let me play in one of their 111r/exige s2's last year when my car was in for a service when i had no real intention of buying.

good bunch by main dealer standards.
