Stereo stuggestions?
Discussion
Hi all
When I'm not using my engine/ exhaust as a stereo on my S2, I do like to have my music on... Unfortunately my stereo doesn't have an AUX input and the iPod cable doesn't charge my iPod, two luxuries I got quite accustomed to in my old Alfa.
What have you guys got? Any suggestions on what to get in order to have my Lotus and eat my cake too?
Thanks

There is not much point in installing anything fancy as you won't be able to hear any advantage that it may boast.
I recently replaced my Blaupunkt Woodstock with a new £46 Blaupunkt Melbourne from eBay which has usb, aux, sd, clock display & remote, but no CD. Easy swap since the harness was the same.
Only difference is that it does not come with auto speed volume adjust which didn't work too well anyway.

Not bothered about fancy because it's rare that I do put the windows up and listen to the radio anyway, I'm just getting bored of listening the same crap on radio 1 (other than Rage Against The Answer Machine - I still love that!) and want to be able to listen to my own crappy music! Especially as the Elise is my daily and it's now getting to that time of year when I probably won't want the windows down/ roof off.
I fitted a Pioneer AVH 7700 Fold Out in my S2. It was a bit of a squeeze re-fitting it with all the wires at the back, but with a bit of manipulation it all fits. I also had to mount the cage a bit further forward so the screen didn't foul on the dash, but it's a decent headunit for the cash. The standard speakers are completely hopeless, so both front and back need replacing. Whilst I was ripping everything apart anyway, I also fitted a reversing camera, handsfree kit, sub and amp to give more oomph. All works a treat!
I've got a Pioneer MVH180UI, it does the job, sounds as good as is worthwhile in these cars, has no CD slot so is lightweight and cost about £60. My iPhone is mounted near the centre of the dash and has a 6" Lightning cable so there's no dangly nonsense.
Update: Looks like this is only £37 at Halfords now. Stupid good value. http://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/car-s...
