I had a new 111S on order with dream machines, although I had not test driven one. The only S2 Elise I had driven at this point was their 111R which at the time had not been run in. Consequently I could not take it above 5,500rpm, anyway I went over this weekend to finalise trim etc & drive an 'S' for the first time. Was quite impressed, getting out of a TT at the mo, so the NON servo assited brakes took a bit of getting used to but no biggy, great car tho....Getting back to the showroom I asked if I could try the 'R' again now that it has been run in, just to compare as you do. WOW WOW WOW - In order not to waffle on to much, I can keep it short(ish) by telling you I changed my order this morning!! :P

111R - Aubergine Purple, Biscuit Leather, Purple emblem in head rests, trim on the transmition tunnel, door pockets, a/c, touring pack

Moral of the story - Don't drive the 'R' unless your prepared to be poorer after woods lol

Hi Guy's

This is exactly what happened to me, I owned a 53 Audi TT, I went to Wilson's to buy a new 111S however there sale's manager persuaded me to also test drive there 111R demo, that was it roof down sun shining, the S just didn't seem to compare with the R

Was out in Wilson's Exige yesterday afternoon, secretly hoping that I wouldn't like it (have owned a number of turbo cars and only one n/a (Clio 172), which I didn't like).... However, now it is just a matter of selling my Subaru and ordering the Exige!! .... I just love the sound/urgency above 6,500rpm!!

it has to be said.............R's the way to go. Its just sooooooooooooooo much better than an S. Did want an S, but R just blew my mind, more compliant, faster etc etc. Cannot wait for summer, might go topless this wekend.

Ditto, don't even drive an Exige S2 unless you are prepared to buy one. I tried to not think about it for months, cold turkey, just one more trip to Christopher Neils to convince myself that it was too impractical/expensive.

Damn.

This time last year I went to test drive a S1 111S, low mileage, one owner, etc.

Did the sums on it, and it looked expensive compared to a new, standard S2. Did the sums on the 111S and the 111R just for fun. Having never driven a S2 before, I wanted to try one. The only demo he had was a 111R... needless to say, I bought one
