The standard 118bhp elise is 0-60 in 5.7 and 126mph ok.

My question is this.

Adding a Sports Exhanust = what bhp increase??

Adding a de-cat pipe = what bhp increase??

Adding a filter = what bhp increase??

Adding a new ecu or superchip = what bhp increase??

I hope to do the first 3 in one go and was wondering what sort of power increase I can expect to gain.

In my experience an exhaust should be good for about 4bhp, filter about 1-2bhp and decat pipe about 6bhp.

= around 12bhp,

So I got a 130bhp elise with those parts..

0-60 Would be around 5.4???

has anyone got any PROPER idea apart from my guessing??

Yes looks about right - the effect is cumlative however- the K series engine is restricted by its airflows - so induction kit + De cat + Sport exhaust is about 10 Bhp - but the de cat really only effects top end speed not torque - so the acceleration figure is probably not significantkly changed - where you will notice the difference is top end and end gear from 40mph upwards - ie when the engine hits about 4000 rpm or over.

Superchips etc are snake oil - no performance gain - proven time and again. a new program map or ecu from emerald can make some difference but is best employed if you change the cam profiles and then re map.

hth - look at www.elises.co.uk

Just spent ages going through the pages on this site, lots of good info on sound proofing too.

I'd like to have lots of noise going on outside the car but keep it sweet inside with a good CD player and speakers, thinking I may invest in a carpet/insulation kit when i get it too.

Thanks for the info mate may give the Superchips a miss.

yep carpets are a good buy - somehow makes the interior a lot less barren !

Performance wise the std car well driven is more than a match for anything out there ... up to 100mph

beyond that it does run out of puff - but you will definately be having more fun when you hit the bends

also check out www.1stlotus.com - driver training on airfields - well worth it - not being patronising I hope but I had not owned a rear wheel drive car before - and this guys instruction definately me keep it on the black stuff so far.

Cheers - good choice btw
