Head gasket Advice - K series
Discussion
1/ Removal of cylinder head, perhaps most importantly checking the cylinder head face condition (no fire ring indentation) and hardness, checking the cylinder liner heights. Quite an expansive question but the two checks I've listed are very important if the repair is to be effective.
2/ You can quite easily do it with engine in situ, rear clam off makes it easier but it's do-able with it in place.
3/ Yes-there is a multi layer steel head gasket kit made by Payen (available from Rimmer Bros) BUT if the cylinder liner heights are on the low side it can be best to fit the original SLS single layer gasket with the orange sealant.
Do you know for sure your's has failed?
