Hi guys

Being a little undeccesive, just literally recently sold a 208bhp caterham slr and fancied something a little more useable!!
Have just literally seen a lovey 2010 red exige 240 come up for sale very tempted with. Recently drove a S2 240 and really liked it before sold caterham but a dull colour. I was wandering of people's opinions if the RGB cars are worth the extra money and will be much more desirable in the future ? I have yet to drive any but sure they be equally amazing. Seen there's one at Silverstone (white 2010) and lotus Southampton. (Yellow)

Thanks for any input

That the one at Will Blackham? I'd buy that, it won't hang around long. With the RGB cars, I'd be careful to check the history as there are a few ex-Silverstone experience cars around - the only thing a fully loaded 240 with performance pack etc is missing compared to the RGB is the 260 power upgrade and cup shear panel, I don't think it's worth the extra personally. The 260 upgrade can be done pretty easily now. Pretty much all editions are going up in value now, I had an S2 sprint for almost 4 years, which I sold at the beginning of last year for more money than I paid for it having put on 12,000 miles (and a fair few trackdays!) in the meantime.

Thanks for the reply gas head smile yeah it was the will blackham car i thought was nice. I spoke to few people this morning and as you suggested the others cars I was interested in aren't for me for your reasons!
I'm having a quick think and should see the red car, prob being once seen I know what will happen but as you say can't see it hanging about. I have another lead on another RGB car hopefully someone get back in touch end of day. As you pointed out not sure it will be worth the premium.
Cheers for your advice

You're welcome, good luck with your search.

Just to throw the cat among the pigeons though, I should just like to point out that 30k (or less!) will get you the initial 50% down on a new V6 Exige (now the 350 sport) which is in a different league of performance. I loved my S2 but the V6 moves the thing into a different league - although it doesn't half like a drink on a track day! 0% finance with nothing to pay for 2 years...

Ha ha good point ref the 0% finance thing smile. I don't generally do finance on cars but can't really see it loosing much money as such so prob not such a bad thing! Least il know it's history. Certainly was throw the cat amongst the pigeons that one smile

Don't suppose anyone knows about the cup260 empire car. Just rang dealer / sounds good but owner lost log book so it shows the dealer as owner ! That's the story anyhow 1owner. Perhaps a phone call to service garage give me afew answers.

Been a funny day doing the research and tracking these cars. What's the cup 260s like???

If it helps I've just had my 240 upgraded to 260, it's an uprated fuel pump and ecu sent to Lotus to be remapped. Cost Including labour 1k

There used to be a red Exige with white stripes at Leeds JCT600, the driver's side sill panel was ruined from someone sliding in and out with studded jeans. Look out for that.

I wouldn't bother with an RGB unless you have a very strong emotion towards it. I'd go for a 240 as you get the brakes, uprated fuel pump etc so it is much easier to modify then a 220. 260s aren't as common but there's nothing bad with playing with a 240 up to 260 spec smile

I test drove that red car in Leeds about this time last year before I bought the S2 I have now. It was very poorly presented, had no paperwork/receipts for any of it's service history and they were asking almost £35k for it. I watched it gradually fall in price over time, I wonder who bought it?

I think the car above I saw last night all stacks up to all your above comments, my first impression literally was it could have been presented a million times better. I couldn't believe it was trying to be retailed as it was! Never mind, search continues, think just going to aim for a S240 as cheaper as you all said.
Thanks for everyone's inputs...

The red S2 is for sale on PH's ---->> http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...

It looks a lot cleaner here than when I went to test drive it.

Hi guys
I'm still looking for a nice low mileage S2 240/260 if anyone knows of anything about. Just had a deal fall through on a lovely Sprint exige.
Seen a lovely exige club racer S3 for sale but wandered if there worth the extra £££s or not or if the values hold! Tried a stunning Exige 350sport the other day at Williams lotus and it was an incredible car. Kinda getting the bug for a lotus considering I started out wanting a Cayman R!!

Wished I bought the grey rgb car which recently came up on this site but at the time daft as it sounds thought be too good for my use. What a Rodney smilesmile

Have a good weekend folks

I'm not sure if it helps but I was on a track day at Croft yesterday and the Caymans weren't coming past me. Can't say if that is driver or car but that's what happened smile

There's a low mileage RGB in the classifieds at the mo. Top money but the price hasn't moved for about 18 months or so.

Think you mean to an S3 Elise Club Racer? My mate has one, have driven it and it's great but the engine doesn't rev to 8,500...
