S1/S2 Exige owners & experts for Classic Cars Buying Guide
Discussion
Hi, I'm compiling a Buying Guide for Classic Cars magazine on the Series 1 and Series 2 Exige - and need your help, please!
First, I need three owners (S1 and S2) who've each had their Exige a few years (at least) and had plenty of fun out of it, who can tell me about their ownership experience.
One Series 1 owner will get to take their car to a studio for a set of studio photos which will appear in the magazine, and of which you'll get copies. Studio options are Derby, Norwich or Beaulieu, so if you're near one of those or are happy to drive there, and you have a Series 1 Exige in very good condition, factory specification and a bright original colour, yours could be the featured car. The shoot takes a few hours (longer if the car's dirty on arrival, please bring it clean if at all possible!) and is normally done on a weekday, though Norwich and Derby can sometimes manage a Saturday morning.
If you've got a suitable car or suitable ownership experience, please don't be shy about coming forward! I will also ask for a mugshot (which I know puts some people off!) but these are now used so tiny in the magazine (half the size of a second class stamp) that you really don't need to worry about it...!
Second, I need advice please, on who are the best experts to talk to about Exige S1/S2 faults, what to look for and how to fix them. These can be either garage specialists, forum moderators or club experts - anyone who really knows their Exiges and is happy to pass on that knowledge.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks
Malcolm McKay

Hi all,
Had my S2 exige S260 for 3 years and spent the most of that time bringing the car upto a higher standard that it was when I bought it.... The cars laser blue with carbon parts on the body. I'm based 5 miles from Derby city centre and can do week days no problem. Edit, just seen that's the s1 only. No problem to help of required.
Gav @ unit 4 In burton always looks after mine and have been working on lotus's for along time. Most specialists tend to have a lot of experience to be honest as underneath they don't differ allot from the elise.
Thanks Malcolm

Thanks, guys - great cars.
Kieran it would be great to include you as one of our owners in the article, the photo car though needs to be a Series 1.
911F thanks very much for offering, unfortunately the Editor insists on several years' ownership for the owners' view panels, it's more to comment on the ownership experience long-term, costs involved etc, rather than to share buying experiences. However I'd be more than happy to hear your thoughts on buying as it would help me a lot with the article!
Any more, especially S1, Exiges out there, please?!
Thanks
Malcolm

I am lucky to have owned a S1 1999 50th anniversary edition from new. Mint, 26k from new, one careful owner. Slightly modified with race engine lowered suspension and uprated brakes. Car based in Isle of Man.
Thanks all who've been in touch - I've managed to get back to you all except HocusPocus, could you email me please? If you click on my username it'll take you to a page where there's a button top right "Email Me" - thanks!Working flat out to finish the Buying Guide (late already) - still open to any leads on Exige experts I could talk to, thanks!
