Being a newbie,I posted this in General Gassing first rolleyes but thought it better to post up in the Forum.

My Elise 111s has a difficult to find misfire that is cutting in the Misfire Detection unit and causing the coils to cut out. Tried two different coils sets, oem leads, new plugs and two crank sensors, aftermarket and Rover. Even the diagnostic check doesn't bring up errors. The engine runs perfectly until it warms and then cuts the coil.
Any ideas.
This seems to be a fairly common fault as I can find a number of posts with the same problem but without a solution.
All help appreciated.

If you're not on SELOC worth joining and searching there... threads like this:
http://arc.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=353815&amp...

And also worth asking there - more likely to reach more owners than here smile

I had this recently. I had new plugs, coils put on. More importantly I had the misfire detection kit removed. I think there was a recall from lotus to have it fitted to the s1 111s then a recall a few years later to remove them as the started to fail.

Happy to be corrected on the recall info, this was my understanding of it though.

A splutter under load and my engine management light showing was the peoblem that prompted the work.
