211 really poor gearshifter

Just bought a 3000 mile 2010 211,and I find the gearshift too long(can live with it tho) and very imprecise,having done the Internet search on the problem it seems it's very common ,now I am sure I could live with it but does anyone know of a fix? Maybe better cables or shifter mech?
The car is bloody awesome and it just spoils it a bit

I had same problem and upgraded to the LETSLA gear mechanism.

It was very good
