Help... Wheel Removal Problem
Discussion
Having had to cross this hurdle myself recently (on the VX), I used a rubber mallet to knock the wheel loose as it had seized on. I just worked gradually around the wheel hitting it both from the back and front to and it slowly edged/woggled off. It does take ages and is a pain. I was very careful to to overly force anything though. I believe the solution is to put copper grease on the hub bit that the wheel slots on to to prevent it siezing again.

Thanks Ben, I have tried to get the wheels to submit to my rubber mallet but i failed. So i have just nipped out to the local Kwik Fit and let them have a go.
Success, but they even found them a challenge.
also NO CHARGE, refused to accept any monies, top blokes at Kwik Fit for that.

My Race Tech has 40K (2002) on the clock and i think this is the first time the wheels/disks have been taken off for a long time - nightmare, the biggest problem was the countersunk screw holding the disk to the hub, could i get it to move - not a chance in hell, tried everthing from impact drivers, heat blah blah, finally had to drill it out. Every nut, bolt inc. the disk & wheel was siezed. I have only been able to change one side so far, nearside next.
My advise to owners who have a similar age mileage and are not sure of there condition, then i recommend you do it now and service the lot. If you find that things are not going to plan then give it someone else to do.
