Just read the Exige vs Cayman GT4 piece in Evo written by Nick Trott. I'll admit Nick isn't my favourite writer in the mag but it's a fair article....however it contains possibly the weirdest complaint I'll ever heard levelled at the Elise platform!

He says, and I quote: "the seat is too high, so you try (and fail) to wriggle lower."

I don't own an Exige but I've sat in one, and from what I recall it's the same as my Elise in that the seat is so low to the floor that you can't even get your hand under it. The floor itself is only inches from the ground underneath, and the driving position with legs almost horizontal in front of you is almost like a race car.

Where exactly should the seat BE for Mr Trott to be happy?

Now if instead he'd said the roof was too low, he may have had a point...

haven't read it ....

how tall is he? im 6.2 and depending on your bodys ergonomics you will struggle to heal and toe as the as your leg pushes against the steering wheel.

so yes, lower and further back would help that.

thing is.... with an additional 2 inches in all directions for a less cramped cockpit with slightly reduced sills the exige would sell globally en-mass. its the only thing that holds it back!

I find the seat position in the S2 Elise means the top rail of the windscreen is a bit low and would slightly limit the view of the road ahead if I sat up straight (only sat in one once and didn't actually drive it). My S1 is just fine though.

Later Elise based cars do have significantly thicker seat bases than early ones. I'd still bet your hips are lower in an Exige than a Cayman, though.

Screen too low, steering wheel too low or seat too high. Ergonomics are a bit rubbish to be honest. A side mounted seat such as a Tillett makes all the difference.

I couldn't even get in the Europa S with a helmet on. It's the biggest niggle I have with Elise Chassis Lotus.

I've made a 3D model in CATIA V5 when designing mine. I hadn't thought of making them available for the masses. Is there interest in these?

Other limitations are that my seat rails are NOT compatible with the Sector111 SYS.6.PACK... the seat is just too low that it will not fit under the seat. Since my car never had the sound deadening mats glued to the chassis, I don't think the seat will fit even with the sound deadening installed...you will have to scrape it out. And, my car came with the carbon seats. I don't know if the standard seats will even fit...

If these could fit the stock seats I'd love a set. My 2014 Club racer is such a good car but being 6'2 I do wish I had a bit more headroom and leg room in the car.

Me too. I'm only 6' tall but long of body, so I struggle a bit with headroom and the wheel obscures the top of the instruments.
