Hi

I am new to site and would just like to say hello.

I have just put a deposit down on a S2 Elise and I have a couple of questions.

Do you just use the same paintwork care products as a steel panelled car.

Also can anyone recommend someone for some advanced driving lessons at reasonable costs
I am based in the northeast of England and would travel within reason .

Thanks

Mick

Hi Mick and welcome.

I'm sure other with more knowledge will recommend car care products but in terms of driver training I would recommend Andy Walsh from carlimits.com. It's a bit of a journey for you but he's an Elise expert and is one of the best out there in terms of getting the best out of you and the car.

Another vote for carlimits, Andy does run a driver training event at Blyton (North Lincs) about 1hr 50mins from the north east.

Where in the NE are you based?

To answer your other question, yes you can use the same shampoos/waxes/etc. The top coats (everything above the primer) are much the same as are used with a steel body.

Use 2 buckets to wash the car (1 bucket with soapy water, the other just water) soap onto the car, rinse the wash mint in the water bucket, squeeze out and back into the soap bucket. All the dirt ends up in the water bucket and the soapy water stays clean. Get a good microfibre wash mit I use a noodle one from Turtle wax, and microfibre cloths / towlels to dry and polish. Keep the cloths clean and replace regularly. Any good quality cleaning products work, avoid polishes and use wax. For my weekly wash I go for autoglym, rapid wax, fast glass , leather cleaner and interior cleaner. Plus their soapy stuff in the bucket. My car is driven daily all year. for special occasions it gets waxed with Zymol cleaner wax.

Detailing forum on Seloc for the more advanced techniques.

Get booked on a 4 person day with Carlimits, Blyton Park is their Northern venue., although more days at North Weald in Kent.

Enjoy the car,
