Headlight Restoration
Discussion
Hi guys. I am looking in to restoring the headlights on my S2 (the UV resistant layer is peeling like most do). There are lots of kits on the market that claim to do the same thing with one of the best being Sylvania. The Sylvania kit comes with a UV resistant film to apply following the sanding process whereas a lot of the other kits do not come with this - is the UV film a vital part to the restoration? Has anyone successfully used another kit?

I "corrected" a set of clouded plastic lights by wet sanding and polishing and they came up superb but if you don't put some sort of UV protection back on the face then yes it will cloud again quickly.
Thanks mate. Just what I needed to know. What did you use as UV protection?J66JBo said:
Are you maybe thinking of the driving lamps? The headlights are £600 each!
Sorry, not ebay but here: http://www.powerfuluk.com/products/crystal-halogen...and I was wrong with the price, not £35 a pair - now £29 a pair.
Use them on my Lotuses and they are superb.
If you also want LED headlamp bulbs they are now available at around £35 each

Some misunderstanding here... These lamps are a direct replacement for 7" Headlights. Simply fit and add your existing headlamp and sidelamp bulbs to the units. The page that you are taken to using the link states that they are a "Crystal Halogen Headlight Conversion Upgrade".
If you want to retain the original look and not improve your lighting then just replace the H4 units with standard - not expensive.
I have these lamps fitted to my Europa.

Always assuming that you are talking about the early Europa's and not a modern one...
Never understood why any vehicle manufacturer seems fit to use the same names over again...http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/3.gif
My apologies, I am talking about the S2 Elise not Europa Holbay!Never understood why any vehicle manufacturer seems fit to use the same names over again...http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/3.gif
