Help in finding an Exige please.

Hiya Guys. Caterham is now on a sale or return at a specialist dealers and other "toy" car sold a few weeks back so I'm now ready to return to the Lotus fold after a 15 year break.
I've a wanted ad on here and have asked on SELOC too.
Basically a nice S2 220/240 would be ideal, I'm based in Lancashire and as of yet can find nothing local-ish.
I'm after a car in the same condition as I keep mine, ie enthusiast owned and as mint and well maintained as can be.
I've got the money ready and waiting for the first genuine car that fits the bill, and I look forward to posting on this section very soon as a Lotus owner once again.
If you know of one that sounds right I'd be seriously grateful if you'd let me know.
Many thanks
Kenny

I traded my Ardent Red S2 220 in at Bell & Colvill a while back and have never seen it come up for sale on their website yet. Bit of a trek, but thought I'd mention it as when I traded it in, I found I'd only done 1500 miles last year. It didn't get used in the rain and in the 6 years I had it, it has only racked up 28,000 with full history.
If B&C still have it, I'd wholeheartedly recommend it to anybody! I only traded it in as I bought a V6 otherwise I'd have kept it

Hi and many thanks for that, it sounded like a nice car without doubt, however I think it will be well gone by now.
As an aside, when you bought your V6 (congrats on that by the way), I guess the dealer was offering stronger money on your S2 than you reckoned you could pull privately?
So many seemed to get p/x'ed as opposed to throwing it to the wider audience, unlike a lot of other cars.

You will probably never find one if you're only looking privately. I went from York to Portsmouth to get mine!
There are very few coming up for sale, from what I have seen most of the Exiges for sale on here were for sale when I was looking for mine at the start of the year.

I'd love to know which Exiges they are and why they've not sold in the last 9 months, interesting.
Many thanks again.

No problem! I need to speak to the dealer and will enquire about my old car as I'd love to know where its gone. If they did happen to have it still, I'll report back! It was a great car with low miles and as they seem to be in demand at the moment, I'd assume they may even have had somebody lined up for it and that it never even made it on to the forecourt. As an aside, when you bought your V6 (congrats on that by the way), I guess the dealer was offering stronger money on your S2 than you reckoned you could pull privately?

I didn't really have any expectation of how much I'd get for my S2, but assumed that as garages have margins, they'd offer a much lower price than if I sold it privately. I contacted a main dealer for an indicative trade in value and was quite surprised how much it was worth to a dealer. I really did expect to be offered low numbers for it, but having seen how much similar cars were on sale for, I could see the offer allowed them to sell on with their margins, gave me a fair price for the car still and more importantly, the numbers still stacked up and enabled me to get a V6.
Hi Arun,
The Evora 400 was still warm when I got in it so must have literally just missed each other! I absolutely loved the Evora and while I have no plans to chop the Exige in just yet, I think it will happen at some point, I absolutely loved it!
That's brilliant news about your order on the Cup. How long will you have to wait and what colour have you opted for?

I knew I had about an hour with the car before Jamie needed it back, but didn't know it was for yourself! The Evora 400 was still warm when I got in it so must have literally just missed each other! It's a great car, but only confirmed it's not for me at this point in time.
On that note, and to avoid me further hijacking this thread, all your Cup queries can be answered here:
