I have been daydreaming about getting one of these.

What is the price range now?

I can only see one for sale at the moment.

I would be looking for one that is in good condition, but certainly not concourse/garage queen.

Maybe I'm mad for even considering it.....

I was considering one last year. They were all in the mid 20K's and many of them sat around for a long time. I doubt they have gone up that much in the interim, I'd say £30K-£38K is way over egged.

~£26K should get you one.

I have an S1 Exige. It's worth whatever someone will pay for it, but I really don't think I'll ever sell it! The only way I'd part with it is if something more desirable came on the market for a similar value.

I was thinking about selling mine but only because it gets so little use (It has done 14k miles).
Nearly 700 miles other week to Lotus Festival and running perfectly has me now wondering if I can let it go.
It would be £35k if I can bring myself to advertising it.

From where? I paid nearly that 18 months ago and would consider buying another for that money now! There are few enough about that prices are only going one way, starting point for a decent one is probably north of £30k now.

There were quite a few sitting around on the classifieds last summer. Many of them sat for months. I could have picked one up I viewed privately for £25K but I chose to buy my CSL instead. What they are advertised for and what they sell for are two entirely different things.

I'm a big Lotus fan. I've had two S1 Elises and performed a DIY Duratec conversion. I like to think I have some knowledge of the subject. So for what it's worth, knowing what I paid for my CSL, paying £35K for an S1 Exige would be bonkers.

Good ones have shifted for anything up to 40. Many now sell before even hitting the open market as there tends to be more buyers than sellers, as happens when cars become collectible. You can still pick them up for sub 30k, but not often.

I know someone who recently paid £42k for one. Was in stunning condition but the car wasn't advertised and the seller had 2 others lined up.

All S1 Elise variant prices are on the up smile

The Exige being the very pinnacle and with only circa 500 produced, half going abroad, will command top S1 money.

Bang for buck at £30k they are an absolute steal and prices are only going one way....

Best thing about an S1 Exige is how it drives. Can't understand buying a minter or worrying about its investment potential personally. Mine's in decent condition mechanically and cosmetically tidy but not perfect by any means. I never feel a moment's guilt driving it hard. If you decide to get one, OP, savour every drive - it's always special.

I was offered very near your upper figure a few months ago for my mint S1 exige. For me it wasn't worth that kind of money as it largely just sat in the garage. So i sold it.

It was worth that kind of money to the purchaser smile - you only need one.

Sad times, I worked out that not having a car and the money sat in the bank was costing me hundreds of pounds a month. So I payed a lump of the moregage, have never been without a toy since my Nova SR so starting from the bottom and working my way back up. Its like a mid life crisis but the other way round.
