I was a silly boy. I sold my S2 197 for a TVR T350c, loved the Tiv but missed the steering feel of the Lotus. Before every one starts I am 6ft4" tall so I was looking though the top 2" of the screen and convinced my self it was not right, but there is no point having a fast car if you don't feel like you can put it in to a corner the Lotus was so good at that on 888's.

Going back to a Lotus for the last time I want a keeper car now. My question is:

1) Is there any more room in a S1???
2) S1 or S2 which ones more collectable???
3) K Series or Toyota lump (not interested in in a S1 with engine replacement I like a original car.

I would love a Sprint.

From a maintenance point of view, I've recently been advised by someone in the know that an S2 is a better part. S1 parts prices tend to be higher by all accounts (e.g. suspension parts).

I think an S2 Elise looks better, but an S1 Exige is surely the best looking.

From an investment/cost of ownership perspective, I think they go (low to high):
- S1 Exige
- 340R
- Early S2 Elise
- 2-eleven
- the rest (Toyota cars etc)

I've recently gone back to a Lotus, and what I didn't realised was the weight difference between the early and late cars. I had a S2 Exige and it was lovely. However, my new K series Elise feels sooo much lighter and more nimble as a result.

Been looking at S2's I used to split jeans all the time catching them on the door latch posts britty funny. I really miss the feeling of true grip. The TVR power steering was the killer no feel at all. No Power Rack is the way FWD!!!

My old Exige did not have harnesses the next one will.

Be careful, a lot of people don't like harnesses in a road car. Each to their own but unless your planning to do a lot of tracking, I'd stick to 'ordinary seat belts'

You can retain the standard belts when you fit harnesses as I did in my Exige S

I had standard seats last time. Aslong as the seats are slotted to take them, a harness bars not hard to fit.

S1 has higher sills so getting in & out not quite as elegant!
I have an exige S1 and a vx220 (so same as an elise S2) and I would say internal space is very similar.
I'm 6'1" and have no issues with head or leg room in either car.

S1 and S2 Exiges are very different animals. The S1 is a better drive but a more challenging ownership prospect. For me, nothing touches the level of connection you can achieve during a hard drive in an S1 but they do require a little more patience.
