Who's dead S2 TT190 in Formula 1 Lotus...?
Discussion
Hi
I was in Formula 1 Lotus, Newcastle yesterday and seen a really sorry sight. A S2 with a major front problems and a twisted front structure. First time I have seen a TT conversion and it looked rather smart - looks like the car is a total loss so maybe I could make an offer on the engine?
If anyone knows who it belongs to let me know as I want to have that lump for my beast!
Cheers

Hi Chaps
Just thought I would add my opinions to this thread as I have a good relationship with the guys at F1
I bought my car almost a year ago and within 30 minutes of collecting it things got rather hot and the temperature reached 120 degrees – eek! Pop went the expansion bottle cap and all the fluid drained onto the road. I must add here that I bought the car privately and not from F1. So my first call was to the guys at F1 and with 24 hours the car was back on the road. The problem was the radiator connection elbow had come loose. Ever since then the car has been back and forward to them for upgrades, servicing, MOT’s etc….etc…and both Chris & Craig are good guys.
As stated earlier in the thread, they are really knowledgeable when it comes to their work, unlike some dealers and they are happy to give you advice and assistance when you need it.
I have had the S2 suspension upgrade supplied & fitted, the “C” service completed, MOT’s, track rod ends & steering rack gaiters done, and a host of bits and pieces supplied by them in the last 12 months and all without a problem.
Price wise they seem to be a half way house between specialist prices and some of the more expensive dealers. Labour is £60/hour excluding VAT.
What I like more than anything else is the fact that you can just wander into the workshop and speak freely with the guys about your requirements. Their parts department is staffed by Albert. If he doesn’t have the part in stock he can lay his hands on it within a few days.
I know that a few people locally (North East) feel that they are tied to F1 because the nearest dealers are in Edinburgh or Leeds, so a few hours drive either way, but for what you get, service is excellent, price is keen when compared with other dealers and you even get free hot drinks – Bonus!
Any more questions?

Sorry to resurrect this long dead thread chaps, but I just found it, and I thought it worth mentioning (for anyone in the Borders torn between F1 and Murray Motors in Edinburgh) that before I bought my car Murrays fraudulently stamped the service book as a C service when they had done little more than an oil change. I only discovered this on reading the detailed service details (which not evryone keeps), but had I relied on the service book stamps who knows what calamity could have ocurred. The service manager never responded to my letter asking for explanation by the way.
A small point but one worth sharing methinks!

Yeah, tend to agree that Murray don't have a good reputation for servicing and customer care. Just to keep all of our friends from Scotland in the loop we now have a Lotus specialist here in Newcastle, Jude Performance Services.
Dan & Ian are the guys to speak to for all your servicing needs. I have had 2 lots of work done by them in the past 6 weeks and I have to say that they really know their stuff. Their servicing costs are much cheaper than F1 Lotus in Newcastle and the service is friendly and professional. They can be contacted via www.judeperformance.co.uk
My next trip to see them will be for performance mods, head porting and polishing, lumpy cams, Emerald ECU etc, these guys do the lot! In short highly recommended.

I'll second that. Just had a C Service done by Dan and his dad, and they were spot on. Good service, good price - even got a blast out Dan's car afterwards. Will be going back for all future work I imagine.
Formula 1 have been fine in the past, so for people who are still under warrenty, you're best going there (for services), for people out of warrenty (or non-service work) - Jude Performance.
