Dealer extra cost of hard top roof
Discussion
Occasionally I check the classifieds for when the time comes for me to purchase my first elise.
One of my criteria would be a hardtop roof, but what I've noticed is that dealers are showing photos of hardtop roofs fully colour coordinated or stripped up and the advert then says "hardtop at extra cost", when surely the hardtop is part of the original car?
Is this common practice

It was an option when I bought mine - don't know if that's still the case? Cost me over £1k as far as I recallOne of my criteria would be a hardtop roof, but what I've noticed is that dealers are showing photos of hardtop roofs fully colour coordinated or stripped up and the advert then says "hardtop at extra cost", when surely the hardtop is part of the original car?

I'm one of the traders you might have seen do that (Jon Seal Sportscars Ltd) If you are keen on the car and it was a good deal I'd probably throw the hardtop back in.
The Hardtop was an additional accessory so not part of the original cars specification. For every buyer that wants a roof there are two that will never bother so its not sharp practice to split the roof its something can can be negotiated in or out of a deal.
Also because we make new hardtops for the Elise I often get a car that doesnt come with a hardtop that we can make one for as part of the deal. Just done this very thing on the last Elsie we sold.
