Heater not working
Discussion
Assuming it has Air Con then it is probably about right. The resistor pack itself I think is about £100 and an Air Con re-gas (which I believe is needed) is about £80 so that puts the Labour not far off the figure I mentioned.
If you do go ahead also have the radiator checked. If it is the original plastic end cap model then I would change that whilst the clam is off and also a stainless tow hook post if the original is on and looking a bit rusty

Hi,
well no actually I don't have aircon (didn't get the choice as it was the only red elise I could afford at the time!! :-))
Part is £90.00 (+vat? so prolly £100 is about right) then about £500 - £550 for the labour.
Just waiting to find out if they can pick the car up and drop it off...

well I did wonder if it was possible by removing the servo, but it all looks a bit shoe horned in so clam removal will give me an opportunity to check the state of the rad and the cooling fans.
Interestingly B&C have quoted me £600inc vat and parts and a pickup and drop off.
So why would I get Lakeside to do it when the main dealer can do it for £50 less and pick it up and drop it off for me!?
Another question I would have is why the hell these people don't have working email and IT systems... I sense an opportunity :-)

My experience of small independents is that they are pretty much universal in being haphazard at replying to emails - I just take it as a sign of them being busy with the greasy bits of cars.
Worth trying Back on Track in Guildford as well for a quote (but it always used to be best to phone them - so that may still be the case), although it sounds like B&C will be the most convenient with the collection!

Back on track quoted well north of £600 for me and my 111s for clam-off resistor pack replacement.
(Although I avoided paying by having a nutter drive me off the road and write off the car on the way!)
If you are going to do it - strongly recommend the aluminium radiator if you haven't already (although that may just be an earlier Elise problem).

Having replaced the resistor pack on my non-AC 111S myself, I am always amazed and slightly skeptical to hear that it is possible to replace the pack with the clam on.
I found removing the clam very much the easier part of the job. Getting the blower unit out and back in was a real struggle.
