After my brother an I (who co-own our S1 Elise) are due our insurance renewal - can anyone offer advice on the best place in the UK for a discount Insurance premium for low use, garaged, 2nd car, recreational use only. I am 31 and my brother 26 and can anyone offer advice on knocking down last year's £900 Adrian Flux (I think it is) premium to something more sensible for a car we cherish and don't use much. Thanks ms81@cant.ac.uk

Autotorque (0161 2785226) do a great deal for me on 3000 miles a year (£639). Never had a prang though (touch wood!) so don't know what there quality of service is like.

When taking the policy out though, the guy was very helpful. Speak to Chris Jordan.

Try Footman James.

They do a Club Lotus policy and I pay just over £500 for 3000 miles a year and I'm 29.

Insure it for the older driver and have the younger one as a named driver - I addded a friend to my policy for Le Mans and it was free.

try AON/esteem, there is a link on the Lotus CArs web site, under the Lotus Insurance banner, they also offer 10% discount for club membership, so at £39 it must be a good investment, but do it before you take the quote, as they wont offer a discount retrospectivly, as I found out to my cost.

yes its Footman James I'm with at the moment on an AXA underwritten policy. I'm just waiting to see what their renewal quote is next week and will shop around after that. £950 for a 30 year old and 24 year old from last year for a 3k limited mileage garaged car - hopefully it will come down now the 24 year old (brother) is a 25 year old - we'll see. Otherwise I might continue insuring for myself (31 year old) and add brother to it if he needs to use it in the summer - try it that way).

Ask FJ about the Club Lotus policy as it's a discounted one. You can join Club Lotus after your renewal I think for all of £15.

I had second car insurance limited to 3000 miles p.a. with Link Insurance (Kent 01622 760000), this was through Adrian Flux. I am 32yrs, own a S1, it was £556 excess £350.

Just gone with the Lotus AOE one close to £200 lower than Tesco who I was with for two years.

If anyone is re insuring with Tesco its worth your time to enter your details on to the site again as both times I did it came out approx £40 cheaper than the renewal notice!

Try Bell Direct, 32 yrs old, FNCB, £400 for me, should of put the witch on it as this would of bought it down further but don't want to give her ideas. they are a sister company of Admiral (and Elephant) beat everyone i know (including tesco by about £150).
You can only but try.
Let us know how you get on.

If its a second car, limited mileage and you don't mind a non-refundable policy then try a "Future Classic" policy from Classic Line.
www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk/
No claims bonus isn't an issue with this type of policy, it seems to be priced based on the car, driver and mileage mainly.

Thanks for all those - but best yet is The Classic Cover place above at £669 - which is a good saving but doesn't include my brother on the policy. I'll wait to see what Footman James renewal comes in at in Feb now, and add to that the Lotus Club discount hopefully to get last year's £900 closer to £600 with any luck. Thanks for all your input though - greatly appreciated.
