Well the Funs gone out of here
Discussion
This forums not what it used to be, admittedly still great technically and the people are helpful as ever but the fun times are over.
I put it down to a mix of 'that thread' which none of the users on here now will remember and the fact that there seems to be far less UK owners now. Back when the forum was a hive of banter I couldn't leave the house without seeing a fellow owner and the giving the standard light flash wave. Now days I don't see another Elise/Exige on the road for months. When all the cars went off to mainland Europe the general mood changed on here and everyone left.
That's how I see it, now where's Gooby.

Hey Gooby is still alive!
For those who don't know, the Bournemouth Only Lotus Owners Club (BOLOC's) was a "gang" of loonies in cars. We were a backlash against the more official regional lotus clubs. It kinda started when Just1 and I attended a lotus club meet in some stale old bar and had a highly informative slide show about some strange aspect of lotus restoration. We just wanted to drive, do trackdays, have fun and get very drunk. The bolocs emerged from a load of piston headers thinking the same way. There was no one in charge, simply come up with an idea, post it here and if there was support, it would happen. Simple as that. Lets go here, lets do that... it was all great and really stupid and REALLY good fun. Like anything that is great fun, loads of people wanted to help us have fun and the more the merrier. No structure, no formalities, no minutes, the only rule was to make it fun. It worked. In our heyday there were about 50 BOLOCs from all over the country.
I agree, "that thread" that was very poorly handled by Garlic that saw most of the regulars kicked out and banned and a solid migration to seloc.
Personally, I never made it to seloc.
Strangely, I still have my car and I have been doing a load of work on her over the last year, my love of lotus has not died even with some other cars coming into my life. They have just reaffirmed my love for the old girl.
I have just sorted all my photos out and found loads of pictures of the BOLOC's (loads of Beachbum and the legendary Deepseatiger). The old crew have moved on, but many are FB friends. I occasionally see the Beachbum but I am never in the Liz and he does not recognise the Alfa or the M5 even with a loony waving, beeping and flashing.
My big time drain is a massively busy work schedule and 2 kids. Both love the lotus but only one at a time means it's use is very limited and she is GJOB.
It is good to know that the DST is still alive, I had dinner with your old CO a few weeks back and we did mention you!!!
Oddly I have been working less than 500yds from SWorks, Kilby and a few others up in the smoke and though we keep on saying we have to have drinkypoos, it doesn't seem to happen....
Shangani is in Oz, Just1 sold up and misses the Liz, tinker bell still has his PnJ. ToxicFrog had a VX for a while ....... Philygumbo still hs his beauty, Speedyellow is living the life of old seamen on beautiful boats in the canaries! Womble is alive and well. The legend that is Twinpipe was last seen in a Cobra....
I am not one to harp on about the "good old days" but they were brilliant and our Christmas party's were legendary!
I will try to put up some photos (if I can remember how)

I got sin binned for two months and have never really bothered since, just popping on for the odd look.I agree, "that thread" that was very poorly handled by Garlic that saw most of the regulars kicked out and banned and a solid migration to seloc.
Before that Gooby, remember being immortalised in Lotus print?
So given that DST has resurrected the BoLOCs discussion, how about trying to organise something for the 10yr Anniv ?
Given that its in April, should allow plenty of time for people to plan/arrange time for it and hopefully get the news out to the old crowd, that may no longer use PH.
I'll gladly do the organising, but in true BoLOCs style it wont be much. Just date X, time Y, Location Z. Then with some idea of a blast along some roads, with it ending at some eatery/drinking establishment

Beachbum - I am up for a run. The traditional anniversary was a blat to Croyde bay then back via Cheddar Gorge where Stu or Twinpipe would knock 5k miles off thier tyres. May be a bit long so I am open to suggestions. Burger run?
