Dear All,

I am new to this forum and would like the help of any willing Lotus owners or Enthusiasts. I own a diecast mail order business selling 1/18 and 1/43 scale model cars and bikes to collectors across the world. I am currently exploring the viability of a new business venture. I have noticed through the number of enquiries that I receive from collectors that there are no 1/18 scale models of the current range of Lotus cars. I have decided to explore the possibility of manufacturing my own range of 1/18 scale Lotus models. I have approached Lotus for the relevant licensing and will initially be looking to produce 1000 of each model of the Elise MKII, Exige and 340R. These models will be very high quality and superbly finished to automotive standards, they will feature opening doors and bonnet along with highly detailed interior and engine. My question to people reading this post is would you be interested in a model from this range and would you find the target price of £150.00 acceptable, bearing in mind that the models will be limited to 1000 and each one will be individually numbered and carry a certificate of authenticity. Please reply to this post with your thoughts or e-mail me direct at timdunlop@lineone.net

I am also looking into making the TVR range of cars in model form so please forgive me if you have read a similar post in the TVR forum.

Regards

Tim Dunlop

Chill guys Tim asked if he could post here too as he'd like feedback from Lotus owners.

Thanks Ted,

I had mentioned that it had already been posted in the TVR section, but some people obviously have not read all of the message.

My apologies.

I looked at your profile and saw you'd posted pretty much the same to all the forums...

To paraphrase Nick the Greek

Don't know Tim....seems expensive

It all depends on the quality - is there some place we can get an idea of the nature of the workmanship?

Haydon's in Sailsbury sold model Lotuses, the Elise's were pretty poor and about 1/32 or 1/43, but they did have a rather nice 1/18? of an Elise GT1. No idea where they got them from mind.

As for price somewhere in the region of £90 and I would be interested, but what about the Elise S1?

Would you be able to have the models signed by the Lotus designers or former drivers for Lotus, Fittapaldi (sp) signed the Elise S2 72 that was parked at GFOS.

fitipaldi signed it cos he was driving it!

Tim....Im sure that the models are of a sufficiently high quality that they would be worth that amount...but......150 quid isn't a toy any more, and detail and expertise aside a die-cast model is a toy.

I think around or just udner 100 would make them easier to sell...remember too that lots of people own Loti cos they aren't Ferrari prices....we dont have much money!

cheers

Dear Santa
What I would like is a 1/18th good quality model of an Elise S1 (in Mustard Yellow), a price of up to 80quid would be bearable.

Failing Santa, anyone know if it exists?

They sell them at Lotus dealers for 25 quid or so. I found a second one on sale, took it to bits and resprayed it silver to match my own car.
I was waiting for delivery at the time.... The only ones I've seen are yellow and black, 1/18th scale made in China by "Chrono"
