I don't have any experience personally but this reminded me of something in EVO I saw a while ago... just dug out Issue 072 and found the following:

Evo Magazine said:
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Where to start:You need to join a club affiliated to the Motor Sport Association; try a big one like the Midland Automobile Club or the HSA (Hillclimb & Sprint Association). For more information goto www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk or www.has.co.uk. Also see www.msa.org.co.uk for details of other clubs and the event calendar.
Licenses:All you need is a non-race National B license from the MSA, costing £31; call 01753 765000 for an application form.
Kit and clobber:Fireproof overalls and an 'MSA approved' helmet are compulsory. Although fireproof gloves and boots aren't compulsory we'd recommend having a set.
Fettling the car:A roll-cage (optional if your car's road legal but otherwise compulsory) costs around £300 plus fitting [goes on about this for a bit but probably not needed for Elise]... A harness costs about £100. You'll also need a battery cut-out and a 'beam-cutter' to trigger the timing gear. A fire-extinguisher isn't compulsory but is a good idea.

Hope that helps!

Were in Tamworth Staffordshire and will be running in the Curborough 2005 Sprint Championship.

Join Shenstone and District Car club £21
(who run urborough) do the training day

Then as others have said, get your MSA licence, register for the championship in class 2L, and pay your entry fees for the best 6 times out of nine events. iirc

all the info you should ever need.

Steve Butts hillclimbs his Elise - second in his national class last year IIRC. Steve can be found on Seloc and the Lotus BBS and elsewhere I'm sure.
