Can you retro fit front speakers? Do Lotus do this or can you do a DIY job?

Do the front speakers make a big difference?

Thanks

yeah you can...but its costly - Lotus charge a fortune for the bits - well a few hundred quid total IIRC

They are only 4" speakers so you dont get much bass...but you do at least get a front sound stage if you set the balance front to rear properly.

With a decent head unit, with a time delay feature you can set all the speaker delays up so you get a perfect stereo image if you have 4 speakers so yes a good difference.

dont go mad on the speakers though - up to £100 max, better of with a small powered sub, then cutting the low frequency stuff to the fronts/rears - combined with a new HU that would keep most people happy

I had the standard S2 with rear speakers only - was a total waste of time listening to anything over 30mph. Had the front speakers fitted + had some better rear speakers fitted at the same time, and it has made an amazing difference - can now listen to the stereo at any speed. Must admit, was expensive tho - few hundred quid. Guess it's worth it if you've got a decent stereo.

Try using some foam earplugs (£1.99 upgrade from boots)

-bizarrely if you have a loud sports exhaust etc, the ear-plugs seem to cut-out a lot of the backgroud engine/road noise making the stereo sound much clearer.

i'm running the original clarion head (which i may change for an mp3) and the original 2 rear fitted alpine speakers which i find fine. Given the engine noise i dont see the point in spending wads of cash on ice.

Get some Focul speakers to replace the original fit. These sound a lot better around £250 fitted.

Focul have an integral tweeter with cross over.
