Exige RGB at Stratton - Norfolk
Discussion
Hi, I'm torn between the below RGB Exige and the slightly older Cup editions. Budget is circa £35k and usage would be a mix of weekend road and occasion track day. Would welcome your: a) opinion or any known history of the below car and b) your thoughts on these vs the Cup editions.

Looks a really good one, although I'd be sceptical of the never track'd claim based on the spec - waste of a cracking car if so! Mileage might be a few k higher than ideal for the money but they are quite rare and I'm not sure the ohlins were standard fit, they are an expensive mod aftermarket. Harnesses are only really useable on track I've found! Don't know anything about the car although Stratton have a decent reputation and should give you a good warranty.
I'd buy It before someone else does.
All the non base exiges seem to be flying off the shelf, regardless of price.
This obviously has a lot of things lacking over the cup model, being the carbon fibre parts, different interior, extinguisher, cut off switches. Other than that, power is the same, brakes ext are the same. Only benefit the cup would have over this is on track, due to It being that bit lighter. But the RGB is one to go for. If i had seen one before I bought my 240S, then I'd have purchased.
I think long term, the CUP 260 will hold its money best. But for some reason, prices on them have went North a great deal. A year ago you could pick one up for Mid 30s, now they seem to be high 30s.
There ain't many about, so they will command that higher price.

I have an RGB (number 009, solar yellow) and love it. The cup is more track biased (half roll cage, kill switches etc) and as has already been said, rising prices (and low availability) make them difficult to find! I use mine on road and track and love it. Went to Le Mans this year and the aircon and smooth French roads made it a comfortable place to be, but it's a riot on track - the supercharger... and the switchable traction control is pretty good. The Ohlins were a factory option, but I can't comment as I have Nitrons on mine.
You might get some info from SELOC or Exiges.com about this exact car, but it probably won't hang around for long - there was a lot of interest in mine, and I put a deposit on it pretty much the day it went up online.
My only other thought is to consider an Elise RGB too, in case you fancy the soft top option, but sounds like you are after an Exige.
Best of luck either way!

I can personally vouch for Guy at Stratton’s. That’s where I bought mine from and not only is he the best salesman I’ve ever had the pleasure to deal with they are also a fantastic dealership to go to. I live 80+ miles from there and still use them for servicing etc. as a result of them treating me so well. Also, the warranty they gave me was not just a worthless piece of paper. Something went wrong with the launch control and A/C and both were repaired just as promised with no charge.
The car looks great, I wanted a white one, there were just none around at the time. Can’t see you losing money on that for at least a couple of years.

This is the way It is going to be from now on with RGBs, CUPs, 240 PP. Colour as well. If you have any of those, standard car, you aint gonna have a problem shifting It, If you wish.
I would actually hedge a bet that the ones I mentioned there actually start to appreciate at some point. I think they will hold pretty firm where they are just now, then the good examples will start to appreciate in several years time. CUPs are appreciating just now!!
Thankfully all of us that have bought Into this, have the benefit of having an amazing car, with little depreciation. Not many cars you can say that about today. They are the last of their kind with the high revving engine. I had been thinking of moving onto the V6 next year, but I think come the time I will really struggle to let mine go.

Shame you can't get to France. The roads over here are far far better. Just have to keep a look out for the Radars but I suppose thats the same everywhere.
Have to admit the new on board radar that tracks speeding cars which ever direction you're going and which doesn't even flash to let you know you've been nabbed frightens me a little. With experience I've always considered I knew what to look for and the hideouts where they try deviously to catch the unsuspecting are moderately easy to look out for. Estate cars parked on the side of the road for example. In addition, people give you an indication of their presence. Now they just drive past in any direction and your zapped and you don't even know it.
As for the black RGB, its not so well presented as the one you bought. Count yourself lucky, but in the photos at least yours looked superb. I'm not a black car fan either. They can look great when clean but for me its a hard colour to keep clean. Anyway, thats another story. Welcome to the club and enjoy your car.
