Fitting one to the centre console in the space of the blank switch that was there previously. I am useless with electrics though.

Here is the wiring diagram:-

I was planning on adding a relay at the steering column to run the ignition wire through.

Ideally I was planning on having the light only come on when the ignition was at point 1, switching off once the car was started. However, the only way I can see to do so is to wire the LED light to the alternator warning light on the dash, and the mass of wires going to the instrument cluster makes me think better of that idea..

So, taken a ground from a bolt in the gear stick surround, but other that that, any ideas on how best to wire this up?

The 12v pin A for LED power wants to be fed from a source that isnt on the battery all the time, but only upon ignition, so that rules out the aux/cig socket. Instead I wondered about taking a feed from the handbrake switch. Would that then switch off when the handbrake was released so the light would go out? (assuming I simply splice from the red wire on the handbrake switch to pin A)

In relation to pin 1 - Power 12V, I am not entirely sure as to the purpose of this in the scheme of the button and whether I can just have this as a permanently live feed via the aux switch?

Any guidance on this appreciated. As I say, I am a luddite with electrics...
