Central Locking is performing a little too well

I went to shift the car off the drive and into the garage, press the big button on the fob, got the indicators to flash but the central locking wasn't playing ball
After a few goes ( about 10 ) the normally reliable security system won't work, in that the central locking will not open and manual key usage does not work either.
In the end I got the Lotus handbook out and moved the system to 'valet' mode, jumped over the locked doors and drove
it into the garage, I have switched the 'valet' mode off by clicking on the big button, sadly though it still will not
unlock
Clearly I have missed something, rather than a fault ?

Thanks.... I think your right.
Off the Christopher Neil's then :-(
Easy enough DIY job so save your ££s (unless its under warranty).Off the Christopher Neil's then :-(

Just watch your fingers/hands on the metalwork surrounding the air vent. It's akin to putting your hand in a washing up bowl full of knives. The job took me about an hour in total, but spread over 2 days as I had to wait for the blood to dry after the first 30 mins..
I'm starting to feel the need to say bugger it and do the job myself....
Also with the money saved I can buy a lovely set of Wera tools I've had my eye on, don't you just love 'man maths'
So before I actually press the button, one last question, what are the chances that it is not the CDL module ?

Presuming you've checked the fuse for the locking already?
The CDL is prone to regular failure, hence the wiki replacement page - I would have a few quid on it being that...
Think yourself lucky you have an elise and not an Exige. It took me longer to break into the Exige with the CDL packed up than it did to replace it...

In the thread someone adds quotes, one of them is from Vauxhall, in fact I think I got mine from there

Quick update in a happy ending type way.....
So, followed the SELOC destructions almost to the letter, apart from replace electronics into the original CDL casing, I was advised not to bother and just stuff the new unit in the space but ensure it didn't rattle ! I put some draught excluder sticky foam on the outside of the new CDL and it worked well.
Also I managed to cut my fingers in the body work, so 2 plasters used, but a damn sight cheaper than a dash out and replacement by the dealer, so despite my reservations about how rubbish I am with things mechanical, it was all done dusted in 30 minutes, thanks mainly to you Guys
Oh almost forgot, it all works and it doesn't rattle !

I did warn you! As I say, the speed of my CDL replacement was hindered more by having to let blood dry than anything else!
Glad you managed ok.
To be honest, having now dismantled my entire interior and taken dash top off etc, it's not that hard a job to get to it 'properly' rather than fighting through the air vent. Would probably do that next time a replacement is necessary.

Fortunately I have small hands
