Whilst I am a lucky boy and have a lovely new Exige V6 roadster (fantastic!), I am rapidly coming to the idea that I would be better off with a hardtop to reduce the wind noise for the long commutes I do on a weekly basis.
Has anyone any experience with the Eliseparts S2 "Short" hardtop...it`s the same roof fitting etc, unless anyone tells me otherwise?
Thanks

There is definately a lot of noise coming from the front edge of the soft top above the windscreen, and when travelling you can feel the airflow/vibration. However, the soft top on my car does not seem to sit quite properly along the front edge. The wire pulls taugh ok and the inner seal makes, but the outer front edge of the canvass lip lifts up, which is obviously going to be a major factor. I used to have a 111R 06 plate, and the roof on that car fitted really well and did not leak at all. I cannot remember too much wind noise at speed, although clearly the car is no Bentley in this respect.
The car is in for its first service this pm and this will be brought up to see if it can be resolved, but there is a pretty clear disclaimer on the roof!

I have a hard-top and soft-top on my MY11 (1.6) Elise. The hard-top is quieter, you can hear the engine more and some of the low volume rattles inside the doors. However as soon as you are up to motorway speeds, the road noise takes over. One thing to check is the fit of the windows at the front. Mine were leaking a little and the dealer adjusted them, which had the added benefit of cutting out the wind noise from the windscreen surround.
Don't think I would bother with a hard-top for summertime though. Being able to take the roof off and go the long way home on an evening is priceless.

CTE - I also own a V6 Exige Roadster and love driving every minute! Because I want to track mine, I ordered a hardtop with the car, mainly to help with airflow at high speed.
I can tell you that with the hardtop on, at more than say 40, it is much quieter. In fact with the hardtop on, the only thing you can hear is the engine growl (I've yet to work out why they bothered with the radio).
If you want to see what they look like with the hardtop - go to The Lotus Forum, there are some pictures of the annual meet which this year was at MBW on Easter Sunday. There is a thread about the meet with pictures of the cars on circuit, where you will find a couple of pictures of my red beauty with the roof on.
