Hello all, I'm a bit con fuddled, will a sports/de cat pipe designed for any Toyota Elise fit the 1.6? If not do any of the seasoned pro's know where I can get a sports cat pipe for my Elise.

I've already fitted a 2bular exhaust and that made the car feel more responsive without a doubt, Jim used to have a sports cat and manifold on his site for the 1.6 but that's now gone, it was also over a grand which is too rich for my blood.

I don't really want to de cat altogether as I don't want to faff with warning lights unless it's easy to avoid.

Thanks all

My new website is almost ready - at last, I got rid of the numpty!

The flange fitting between the OEM manifold and Catalyser on the 1ZR and the 2ZR is different from the 1ZZ and the 2ZZ. Curiously, 1ZR people either go for just the system or the whole shebang - manifold+cat+system.
No-one's asked for a sports cat that bolts to the OEM manifold - yet - but I'm waiting on the laser-cutters for the 1ZR/2ZR Cat flange.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply! I'd love to go for the manifold but I couldn't justify that outlay, though as noted the oem part is not ideal. Much like the original cylindrical bin lotus used as a standard silencer.

With regards to the below taken from another thread:

'The factory manifolds are .....................umm, not the best design for torque. Short, small-bore 4-1 feeding a far too big (63.5mm) Cat pipe. They haven't even used the splitter plate from the N/A 2zz-ge Cat pipe.'

Would a new down pipe decat sort that? Probably a noob questionsmile

I'll keep an eye on the website and will call May time to see if you've got the sport cat available.

It's best to come down from the 2.5" bore to .................. something smaller. Catalysers are a disaster for performance, so de-cat with smaller bore pipework works very well. CEL's can be a problem. I did advise customers with de-cats to fit/try the usual remedies - haven't had any complaints. The newer ECU's are better at re-tuning on their own.
