I'm toying with the idea of another car in the garage something with strong residuals not to heavy on parts which I could use for the Sunday morning hoon and perhaps the odd track day. One of the obvious choices could bid a 340r I just wondered if its going to feel a bit dated?.
I've had plenty of Lotus before including 2 Exiges mk1 and Mk 2 I'm assuming the performance figures would be similar.
Any thoughts appreciated!.

Yes but they're quite a bit more expensive. On my list of possibles are R500 , Atom , 2-11, or 340. Just fishing for advice on all options realy. I'll struggle to find a 2-11 south of 30k I think tho!

I went from an Exige to an R500 six years ago and never looked back.

Like you, I'd had numerous Lotus and fancied a change and a Caterham is a totally different driving experience.

Can't imagine not having a Caterham of some description in the garage tbh.

I think you'll find they're all superb cars to drive for your intended usage. I've had two Caterhams and now own a 2-Eleven (I've also owned an Elise and driven lots of different cars of this ilk) and I've loved them all. Caterhams are a doddle to slide around and have a practical boot and reasonable ground clearance. My 2-11 has neither, but offers vastly more chassis stiffness, grip and high speed composure (7s suffer front end lift at speed), but is much less slidey and playful. Pros and cons balance really, you need to find out which car is for you in terms of driving pleasure. I'd be happy to take you out in my 2-11 as a passenger; I live near J5 M3 in north Hampshire.

I have a 340R, it is great fun and as you say it seems a fairly safe fun car to have a bit of money in. Mine is SORN at the moment but I am on the Northamptonshire/Warwickshire border if you would like to come out for a drive when the weather improves.

Thanks everyone for advice and px offers but I've lost the plot possibly and I'm going to try a Xbow. Pick it up next Friday . Wish me luck.

Great so see a conclusion to one of these threads even if it's a bit of a tangent!

Hope you enjoy the KTM
