Good afternoon

I used to be upto date on the specification on Lotus and most cars but a little out of touch now.

I used to own a a Elise s2 with the K series engine. I am looking to buy another Elise. Is there any good website I can look at that has each elise specification and weight etc. I also want to know Elise's have no servo assistance, no power steering and electric windows etc? Is there a Toyota engine Elise with no servo assistance and electric windows etc?

Also the new V6 Exige... Can you buy it wih no frills like servi brakes, electro windows, air con, central locking and sound deadening etc?

I like the s1 sport 160 but worried about the reliability of the engine.

Short answer, you are stuck with the k series engine if you want no servo etc... Unless you go for a car with an engine swap, honda, Audi or ford duratec.

I'd recommend popping over to SELOC if you want more opinions smile.

Elises.co.uk has a model summary:
http://www.elises.co.uk/models/index.php

What EX51GE R says is a good summary although there may be some options still with the k series if you wanted a little more power or to try get a little more reliability.

The prices on the S1 Sport 160 are getting rather strong these days so unless you particularly wanted the character of its engine you might be better off looking at alternatives. Although they're a little strong in price themselves, have you considered the S1 111S? The other alternative if sticking with S1 or early S2 with standard K series and you want a bit more pep is looking out for one that's been worked on by DVA to up the power (likely made more HGF resilient too).

As above, all Toyota powered cars have a brake servo with ABS; all K-series powered ones have no servo and no ABS.

Electric windows were an option on most of the later cars, as was air conditioning. I'm not certain, but I think all S2s have "remote" central locking. No Elise based car has power steering.

Thank you for your replies. I didn't know all Toyota engine cars have servo assistance. I thought it was only later cars had more safety features due to regulations. Does that mean all S2 exige's have servo assistance?

I seen the new exige in the flesh and it looks great. The extra length in the wheel base makes it look a lot better.

Yeah, S2 Exige has servo (and ABS - the ABS is "track tuned" and designed to cut in very late tho').

The new Exige V6 does look stunning - I've seen a few now at various meets smile

The Exige V6 comes standard with all you mention above except air con. This is an option although why you would delete it with all the torque available would be silly.

For me in any case my V6 has been a nice cosy place on my daily commute since Oct and the air con di-mists well in the wet.

Does the new Exige V6 have power steering?

What is an Elise S if a Elise SC is supercharged?

Modern car model names are getting more confusing. You used to look at badge on the boot of a BMW and know what engine size was in it but now you haven't got a clue.

V6 doesn't have power steering.

Elise S is entry level Elise (5 speed, 134bhp Toyota). Confusing, as the Exige S is the supercharged Exige. Elise SC is the supercharged Elise, yes.

I agree, the lotus naming is certainly a bit of a minefield... especially when your looking at cars over quite a long time frame.

Sorry, not correct. For exactly this reason they changed it some time back.

Elise = normal version
Elise S = supercharged

Exige S = supercharged

Evora = normal
Evora S = supercharged

Hang on........... Let's put he mk version for the Elise's I.e series 1, 2 or 2.5 lol.....

The quoted info was correct for the later series 2 models.

But tbh there is loads of info out there so I don't know why we're trying to wiki it here.

If your looking at new models then yes. But if your comparing and Elise SC and Elise S of the same year (i.e. S2) then what I said stands. That's what it sounded like the OP was doing.

Fair enough. The reference to v6's made me assume he was looking at new cars. Should have looked more closely.
