Is it possible to change due to accident damage? What sort of price are they to buy? Also is it a fairly simple nut and bolt job like changing the front clam or subframe on a normal car? Thanks for your help! Cheers, Ben

It was designed to be changed but is bonded in place.

If you're buying a damaged Elise check the wishbone mounts. If they're damaged then the chassis is toast.

Can you buy the glue and crash box easily enough? Is it just a job of making sure its properly in line? I've been assured there is no chassis damage- but will check it when i go and look at it! What sort of price are the crash boxes? Thanks, Ben

If you're thinking of buying a damaged Elise and repairing it yourself have a look over on the SELOC forum.

Very easy to get burned, seek advice from those who know these cars backwards before you part with any cash.

Is it a private sale?

Second hand crash boxes are around the £4-500 mark

The procedure for replacing it is detailed in the service manual. I know that a scanned copy of the rover-engine S2 service manual is available online from somewhere that's not lotus so if you can find that you can read about what's involved.
