As a previous Elise 111S owner I am thinking of buying an Evora S and can't seem to find out if you can take the hard top out (like the Elise hard top)? Anyone know the answer?

The roof lining would have to be removed, and bare in mind the slot in the roof acts as a venturi to guide the cooling air in to the horizontal slot in the roof you can just make out the black slot here http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/2605/Lotus-Euro...

When standing at traffic lights you can feel the rear window is hot, as soon as you pull away the window cools so I suggest that just because you could remove the roof it may have an adverse effect on the cooling airflow package

So in a nutshell... no!

Sounds like quite a lot of work and I wouldn't want to mess with the cooling on a Lotus!

Do you own a Europa S?

The question of whether you could easily convert one to be removable has also come up a few times (setting aside the issue of the airflow). The roof's bonded in and parts of it tuck under other panels which means it would be a non-trivial job:

I went from an S1 111S to a Europa S earlier this year smile

Anything is possible. Your best to speak to Chris Randal at Hoffmans. They had the roof off when building there race car. From what I Recal they had to use cheese cutter wire to cut through the adhesive and was a bit fiddly However once removed I Believe the top of the rear clam shell is left unsecured. I think Junks was also looking at doing this. So you might want to get yourself over to SELOC and ask the question.

I think the OP was more asking if it was like the Exige and something where you can easily remove it smile.
Junks did look at it - it's his comments on a thread on SELOC about it which informed my comment above! I wasn't suggesting it was impossible, just that it's come up a few times as the panel's visible lines lead to people wondering about it but the consensus is it's non-trivial and no-one (AFAIK) has attempted the conversion.

Its not straightforward by any stretch. The front is bonded onto the windscreen surround and the rear to the bulkhead and sill sections and also its overlapped by the rear clam. It would be an easier job to do some sort of gull wing conversion… Or just buy and Elise or VXT!
