Exige V6 Cup at Donington

With the likes of Donington Park, Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Oulton Park, Cadwell Park, Anglesey and the Bedford Autodrome - among others - all within a few hours of each other, the Cup version of the new Exige V6 is making more and more sense. Crucially it's a lot more fun than a Caterham in the wet as you'll see at the end of the video.
Does any other country have it so good?

Interesting - but is it really worth more than twice as much as something like a 2008 Exige S2?
Having driven both ......No!The V6 is far more refined and the Bosch control system is superb but, when you run the numbers I can have my '08 Exige 240 and an Atom for the price of the V6, it just doesn't make sense to me.
I'll wait to see what the residuals look like before considering one. Also I missed the supercharger whine on the V6, it all seemed so quiet.
For starters I'd have spun clowning around like that in a 2008 Exige S2!
It's definitely worth it to me (clearly). The Exige S2 remains one of the coolest and most satisfying cars to drive at any price. If you enjoy track driving a 458 is catagorically not worth 6 times more and same goes for a GT3 being over 3 times more.
The Exige V6 may have the same interior but really I consider it a small, light exotic rather than a big, heavy Exige. Nothing else sounds or feels as good to drive at the price. There's very little to touch it at twice the price.
A comparison against a 2012 GTR at Silverstone was astonishing. After what you read about the GTR, the Exige should have had it's hands full. The Exige was in a totally different league on the track in every way that mattered. The GTR owner agreed with me too. No sane man could argue in favour of the 1700+kg GTR around Silverstone.
As ever, each to their own but generally the people who aren't convinced about the Exige V6 are the ones who haven't driven it yet.

Good timing as i'm at B & C on Tuesday discussing my future V6 shaped options, & then at Donny in a couple of weeks for a Sat/Sun track weekend
Could get costly
If you're seeing Jamie say hi from me and that I want my commission!
He knows all about the MSG V6 Cup, I send him all my videos as a matter of course.
I'm actually one of the worlds biggest S2 Exige fans. I'd love an Exige S1 too, total icon! I think as a dynasty they are one of motoring's greatest but I'd enjoy driving an S2 more. The V6 is a big step on again but thankfully, for a huge fan of the S2 (I tried to buy a Cup 260 just as Lotus stopped production), it retains 85% of what I love about the S2. I'd still love a Cup 260 but it would have to be 'as well as' not 'instead of' the V6. I will always miss my Elise Sportsracer, such an outstanding and rewarding car for every single day of the 5+ years I owned it but having experienced what the V6 can do now, there's no going back!
Let us know how you get on.
cheers!
