We'll I'm not due back to the UK for another month, my gf told me today that the door lock has started playing up in the cold weather and she has to slam the door to close it.
This wasn't a massive problem, next she told me the fan / blower is only working sometimes.

Is she being a muppet (bear in mind last week she told me the car was overhearing when she was reading the mileometer), or is this a common fault? Don't want her pranging the car because of a fogged up interior.

Sounds like the heater resistor pack has started to, err, pack up...

Very common fault, I've suffered this issue myself. The location that Lotus chose to install it in the car was a pretty poor one, basically it's in a water trap and the connectors on the pack end up corroding away leaving you with the symptoms that you're suffering from. I had issues with 2 of the fan speeds, then all 3, then they all started to fail completely.

i had this with my car shortly after buying it, a new redesigned resister pack (resited within the blower unit so it doesnt sit in a puddle anymore) was just over £100 from memory, i took a couple of days off work and removed the clam myself-its not too hard, i just got a mate to help lift it off after i had undone the bolts.
