My 2007 Elise S has developed a light coming on the dashboard and won't go off. (engine diagnostic)
The car runs exactly as it did previously.
Is this serious? Any ideas whats wrong?

Also, this has been the case since purchase, the car seems to get very hot, on normal driving she sits around 85deg.
But when I'm in traffic she rises slowly to around 91/92, In heavy queue's sometimes goes up to 99deg.
Is this a cause for concern??

Cheers, Grant

Don't worry, its nothing serious and probably nothing at all. The electronics in your engine are very sensitive and the slightest thing out of the ordinary can cause the EML (Engine Management Light) to come on. Chances are it'll go out in its own time (a day or two) but if not get someone with an OBD device (On Board Diagnostics device) to see what's wrong. They will be able to switch the light off too.

The engine temps you mention are all perfectly normal. In traffic every engine temp increases.

Your car shares the engine with my MR2. A common fault is with the O2 sensors. If you get an OBD code reader it will tell you what's wrong.... likely it's not serious but best to check ASAP.
