Hi

The shocks on my s2 are in need of replacement...

Has anyone fitted the bilsteins from eliseparts? Any good?

Any recommendations of others?

Thanks!

They are very close to the OE spec, so if you're happy with the ride as handling they should be much the same.

I think they are supplied without springs, so if that's the case you need to swap them over or factor in the cost of replacing those as well.

They are similar in price to Nitron Street Series. I couldn't make my mind up between them so ended up spending a couple of hundred extra on Nitron NTR 40mm.

Depends on your usage but if it is a weekend car and don't mind a firmer but well damped ride then the NTRs are worth considering.

I just put the rear eliseparts dampers on mine (lotus were quoting 6 months for delivery!). I'm no chassis expert but they feel just the same as the originals on road and track. No complaints from me smile

Out of interest, how many miles have you done on the original shocks please?

I've just had the rear dampers changed on my 2005 Elise, just clicked over 49,900 miles.

Just changed mine at 62k - one had started leaking and they were looking very tired !

I'm having a set of Nitron streets (series 2) fitted and a full Geo and setup done by Hoffmans next week. Will let you know how I get on.

This was also out of necessity as one of the rears had blown and replacements on back order. 55k miles approx.

Nitrons were fitted yesterday and I went for my first drive. First impressions are very good indeed!! The car handles bumps and uneven roads far better than before, the ride feels overall much smoother. Handling through the corners is equally impressive although, I wasn't really able to give it as enthusiastic a test as I would have liked!

When I get the chance to give it a longer run, I'll update this post with more feedback. First impressions though, a very worthwhile upgrade!
