Hi all.

Let go of the 111r back in the spring and have been looking at some Sevens as it's a scratch I never have itched.

The 111r had 190 Bhp, but weighed a good deal more than a seven. What sort of hp would I need to look at to be sure that I'm getting at least as much oomph if not more in a seven please?

Have been look at the classified at around 10-12k mark and not sure what I should be looking at output wise.

Any thoughts I'd be grateful thanks.

Nick

223 bhp/long ton
199 bhp/short ton
220 bhp/metric ton

wink

First unit is the one you see used most often in magazines.

In my experience anything with over about 120bhp will feel at least as quick as the Elise below the legal limit. You'll probably want 150+ if you value top-end performance though, especially if you go for girly options like a windscreen. smile

Thank you guys.

Early days and nothing may come of it, but it's nice to look about.

or what about a 500bhp Hyabusa turboed one?

Chris.

140hp in a lightweight 7 is plenty Nick, a mate of mine has one (he lives in bewdley actually) and i've driven it a few times. Its almost as quick as my honda powered S1.

I'm sure I could arrange a little outing for you if you want?

Good to hear from you Dan and thank you for the thought smile

I'm holding off with looking at a few things such as actual cars, drives and my bank account until I know I'm going to pull that trigger.

I have a 140bhp seven and up to around 90 it'll be at least as fast as a 190bhp Elise, and faster through the corners.

You loose a bit on the top end as it has the aerodynamics of a brick (unless you go aero!). 140 gives me about 269bhp/ton (without) the driver. You most definitely notice the extra weight of a passenger too, so if you're keen on being fast on trackdays with a passenger, you might want to look at 160bhp+.
