Hey guys

So i am considering moving to a 2006 N/A Exige, my concern is that I have never driven a lotus before and I want to give it a go before I purchase.

My experience with test driving used cars is they either only let you after youve bought it or will give you a massive sales pitch ås soon as youve driven it.

I just wondered if its likely to be ok to just test drive one then walk away to consider my options? I can only imagine how irritated dealers would be that you seemingly have no intention of buying it on the day after letting you drive it!

Cheers for any info, my last car was bought new from an official dealer so it was a different experience, havent bought used before!

I had a few test drives of cars at different dealerships before buying my Elise - did not seem to be a problem for the dealers.

thanks, i associate used sellers as being more 'hard sell', not letting you test unless they are sure you would buy, and i dont want it to seem like im wasting their time!

They don't need to know how serious you are about buying and they certainly shouldn't be insisting on anything before letting you have an accompanied test drive.

I've bought quite a few quick cars from dealers over the last few years. They've all let me have a test drive without any strings attached. If you don't want the car then just tell them you need time to think about it, you're test driving others before making your decision, whatever reason you want to give, and walk away.

That's what I'll be doing when I start test driving Exiges soon. smile
