Evening all. Any thoughts on this? Guy from the garage came to see the car today and said the alarm wasn't knocking off when the button was pressed - it was flashing the lights to suggest it had but not actually disarming anything. This, he said, is why it wouldn't push start when we tried that. He left saying they were a pig to get to and he'd have a look tomorrow.

I know you do, not sure what I'm after to be honest.

Dad replaced battery in key fob, pressing button flashes indicators (as it usually does), but doesn't disarm the immobiliser. Putting key in ignition lights up all the dash lights but won't turn engine, you only get that faint "tickticktick" sound

ok, stick your head in the engine bay, get assistant to turn the ignition on...

your listening for a click, followed by the fuel pump whirring for 3-5 secs then another click as the pump stops.

If you replace the battery does it need to be synchronized?

This is normally the car battery not having enough juice to turnover the starter motor isn't it?? Charge the car battery and try again or get the ignition lights on, press the alarm button to disarm the immob and then it should fire.

You're absolutely right, but in this case it still wasnt having it. Tow trucks taken it away, wait for news along the lines of "it was only a fuse, ten quid'll cover it..." :-)
