Car seems to have developed a starting fault. Battery is on a trickle charge when not used, so I guess it ain't a battery issue. Turn over engine, just a click, try again another click then normally third time lucky, and it turns over a little slow to start with then bursts into life. Is it something like a solenoid problem, if so is it an easy fix? Thanks for any help....

I intermittently get this too. I've always assumed it's the starter motor on the way out but would also be interested to hear if it's not that drastic a fix?

Thanks for reply. If it is a solenoid sticking problem, does anyone know whether it can be remedied or does it need replacing. If its a replacement is it easy to identify what type it is?

Mine did this for a while, but has hopefully/touch wood/fingers crossed cured itself.

When my MG goes through phases of doing this, hitting it with a hammer generally seems to solve it. hehe

Usually on a K series motor this is caused by the starter being bombarded by dirt and water, you need to check the connections to the solenoid, usually the main feed from the battery is a little dirty/corroded,the one from the solenoid to the motor is the one to look out for.The lead is usually green/corroded,if it is then it's either time to get brave and rebuild the motor,or shell out for a new one.
