Well the Elise is nearly 13 years old. Still looks good apart from the peppering of chips on the nose (although I see these a healthy patina which suits the fundamental purpose of the car!)

But I wanted to give the car a spruce and decided to take the time for a full polish and tidy up. So the car was thoroughly cleaned, de-tared, clayed and dried before the real work began.

I was abit wary of taking the rotary polisher to an Elise, but started tentatively using Menzerna 4000 and a light polishing pad. I had used this combination on some light scratches on the Mercedes and they had come out easily, Iwas expecting the Elise paint to be softer. Not so.

Moved to a medium pad and Menzerna 2300. This removed light scratches and swirls but didn't really do much on the random deep scratches. The Elise paint is really hard (at least it is after 13 years years of curing). Persevered and after 9 hours of toiling the car was ready for sealant and wax. The whole car was done with a 3" pad, as the curves of the car didn't really allow the 6" pad to be used.

And so to the finished article...

Car was finished off with AG EDG as sealant, then Collinite 915 and a wipe with Finishkare 425.

Regards, Neil
