Been doing plenty of faffing about on my elise S1.
Must say it is lovely to work on compared to the grimey rusty spiky nasty crap ive owned in the distant past.
Or maybe i havent had a PITA job yet.
Very clean underneath, give the aluminium a wipe and its like working on a brand new sports car, not bad for 16 years old.
Also my slightly rusty wishbones will be replaced by these soon to be painted zinc plated jobs from 6/1997 (and the old ones refurbed and sold on).
Hows that for quality, 16 year old unmarked wishbones! Chuffed, pity they didnt continue that into 1998 though - or HD Galvinised the petrol tank.
Overall most things seem to be an IKEA fix.
Also got a pirate copy of the service manual now and it gives you lots of confidence.
Just thought id add this thread to counterbalance fear of ownership and praise the general quality.
Put it like this, a rusty fuel tank or leaky radiator is more easily solved than a rusty chassis.
Happy camper!
PS before I trawl SELOC what are good tips for bush replacement?

Go for OEM rubber ones, IMO they're better than faffing around with polybushes etc.

Or Nitron rose jointed bushes appear to have a good rep (although have no experience of them), but are pricey.
