Hey folks,

I'm looking at buying my first Exige S and I've looked at a few now.
Saw one yesterday that was tidy and pretty much the spec I'm looking for.
However, there is a gap in the service history and I'd like to find out whether this will be a big deal when I come to sell it.

It has been serviced by main Lotus dealers from 2007 (it's a 57 plate) through to 2013.
There is a gap in the service between December 2009 (7k miles) and April 2012 (10k miles).
So it missed one service and the next one was a few months late. It only covered 3k miles in this time.
It has covered just over 1k miles since the 2012 service so it's now on 11k miles.

Do you think this will be an issue when I come to sell the car privately in a few years time?

Thanks

Phil

Nothing to worry about. I have mine (Exige S) serviced every two years at a specialist but only do 2-3,000 a year and more importantly I haven't done any track days in it (yet). If I did track it then it would be serviced at least every year but as I don't and the specialist said every two years is fine for this type of car, plus I intend to keep it for a long time then every two years is good for me.

I'd be more concerned by your description of the car. A 2007 with 11K should, if looked after correctly, be a little more than 'tidy'. Perhaps its just understatement. Just be careful as low mileage is no guarantee for trouble free motoring. As always, find out as much as you can about the car. If you want lots of advice, pop a link into the forum indicating the proposed new car. Replies guaranteed.

it's only done 11k miles so in practical engineering terms it really only needs one or two services absolutely nothing is achieved by an annual oil change after just one or two thousand miles.

The service history on my Elise has a missing year.
I was working away and it was in storage.
