Hi Guys

New to Lotus and was a little confused regarding a recent viewing on an Exige S2 on an 05 plate , it did not have Exige embossed into the seats? My friends Exige does , is this simply down to an options list? or are they incorrect seats fitted, seems a silly question I know but I was a little disappointed when it came to light in this car as everything else checked out :/

Thanks in advance

Paza

The base spec seat for the Exige is the same as the Elise seat.

Hi Paza, no that's fine.

Even the sports pack seats in my '08 Exige (Probax cloth seats with harness holes) don't have the Exige writing. The touring pack leather versions of these seats didn't necessarily come with the writing either.

Have seen varations on this depending on model year and spec.

Lotus also do all sorts of things in the trim shop - my Elise has the Lotus logo embossed on the headrests, most don't.

There are many variations, some seats even have fancy coloured stitching to match the body colour. My favourite seats are the Type72 edition ones, mmm lovely!

Is it literally just 'Exige' you're missing, or does the one you're looking at lack harness holes as well?

If the latter (as with lots of Elise seats) and you want to upgrade at some point, all the seats are pretty much interchangeable but the harness ones are seriously expensive (usually £1,000 for a second hand pair and they're very much in demand) - and between £1,000-£2000 (each!!) new from Lotus depending on which ones you buy.

It probably sounds daft thinking of things like seats, but if I was buying an Exige I'd definitely want one with harness holes so I have the option of fitting full harnesses. If you do want to upgrade, £1-2k is a lot to spend in hindsight.

Then again if it's perfect in every other way, or a bargain, go for it! As said, it's always easy to upgrade, even if it's not cheap.

You need to factor in the resale value of the seats you are taking out. It makes the cost to upgrade much lower.

Well gents it’s an interesting point there are lacking the holes I think so just basic seat the car has only covered 15k so the seats are like new I thinking I try and sell these and then source a set of bad boy seats!!! smile, the car is right in every other way so seems silly to get hung up on one detail in this case
