I need one for my Exige which now has the Stage 2 sports exhaust with the recessed oval tip.

I'm struggling to locate such a thing.

Any thoughts??

Speak to Jim at 2bular, he will sort you out. If he doesn't have what you need on the shelf he will make you something up.

I have an 8x22 with a noise cancelling chamber that is a work of art.

Surprisingly Jim can't help. He says it's not really possible with the oval tip pipes.

I would have thought you could devise an insert the clips in, & then maybe projects out a little.

Your noise cancelling chamber, is it removable?

If you want to do track days.... the way forward is to get rid of the stage 2

I know, i've ended up with it by mistake.

Thing is, i do quite like the noise for road use, so i'm now thinking i would like to enjoy the best of both worlds biggrin

Ah, I misunderstood your original post. You want some sort of attachment for your existing silencer, not a replacement? Don't think there is one available for the oval exige exhaust, and by the sound of things your stage 2 is failing rapidly already so you are probably going to need to replace it.

The noise cancelling chamber on mine isn't removable, its built in before the exit pipe. Still gives me a great sound track, pops and bangs on the overrun but also (just) gets me under the noise limits at bedford if I take a bit of care.

Cheers guys.

What i'm after is a set-up like i used to have on my Cerbera.

It was loud & proud for the road, but when i went to the track, i simply bolted on a couple of silencer cans to get me under the noise limit.

Surely there must be something somewhere for the Lotus exhaust?? I don't believe i'm the only one in this pickle!!

Why don't you speak to a custom exhaust supplier in your area, they may be able to make a mid section that you could simply add for track days then remove for the road.

I have the original exhaust so just need to switch it with my Larini before going on track, takes about an hour to swap over

Got one made for a S1 by these guys a few years back, simply supplied them with the OD of the tail pipe after removing the oval tip.

I don't know that a stage 2 will automatically fail a noise test.

I need it to pass 105db static & 98db driveby for the circuits I visit.

Everyone feels it may be an issue. I'm not sure though. Coming from TVR, it doesn't feel that loud. I'm going to buy a noise meter myself this weekend & find out myself.

Ah I've got a sound recorder app I could try, my mates got a Tuscan with de-cats and sleeved exhausts, my Exige is definitely quieter but still sets car alarms off!

Hey folks.

First post for this newbie! wink

I'm looking to buy an 07 Exige S. I've narrowed it down to two cars.
One has a stage 3 exhaust and the other is standard.
I think I'd prefer the stage 3 exhaust but I'm a bit worried about whether it will pass track day noise tests.

It seems that the stage 2 is a little louder and fails some tests but what about the stage 3?

Can anyone help?

pretty much garrentee that if driven hard it will fail just about every noise test at a trackday.

these days sports exhausts <> trackdays

I may have located someone who can manufacture me a bolt on additional Trackday silencer for about £150 that can simply be added for a day & then removed afterwards.

If it works, then I'm sorted, as I'm really enjoying my Stage 3 at the moment.

Lovely loud noise for the road, & then no black flags at TDs biggrin

Edited to add : I thought mine was a Stage 2, when in fact it's a Stage 3!

My stage 3 was measured at 105db at a track day so it's borderline at best.

Great feedback guys, thanks!

Still leaves me with a bit on a dilemma, though.
Buy a car with a stock exhaust and enjoy hassle-free track days a couple of times a year or enjoy pops and crackles for most of the year and then suffer issues when trying to track it.

Not an easy one!

I guess the viability of the track day silencer will be key.
Let me know how you go!
